Colleen BlackburnInstall Lead
Colleen moved to Chicago from the West Suburbs, where she grew up. She attended Northern Illinois University to earn her degree in History. Although she studied the past, Colleen is a huge advocate for living in the present. She is inspired by the little things in life – a great cup of coffee, nature putting on another fabulous show of color, and watching her family adapt and grow during times full of change and adversity.
At HMR, she loves the challenges of each job. No event is ever the same, and she thrives in the environment of problem solving and creation.
- How do you spend your free time? I enjoy spending my free time with my family. Volleyball tournaments, watching the Bulls, listening to records, walking the dog. It’s really about simplicity these days.
- Where do you find inspiration outside of work? I am inspired by the underdog. Neighborhood organizations, independent artists- there is so much overlooked talent in everyday life
- What's a fun fact about you? I am a published author! I used to manage a small, local history Museum. I am very passionate about local history and Genealogy.
- What other industries do you find to be the most inspiring? The independent artist, in general, are very inspiring to me. There is a certain bravery you have to have in order to present your work. This applies to music, art, fashion, academics, the trades- I am so very impressed with the amount of effort it takes to make it.
