Natalie WalshEvent Designer
Born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and raised in Minnetonka, Minnesota, Natalie was first drawn to Chicago at the age of eight while on a weekend trip with her dad. Her attraction to the city’s energy compelled her to return in 1995 when she decided to make the city her home, and its celebrations her creative focus. After studying Photography and Poetry and earning her BA from Columbia College, Natalie’s entrepreneurial spirit was born. She gained experience working for a design firm while developing her photography portfolio, and eventually set out to open her own event design company, Hello Darling, in 2005. No stranger to the floral industry (she began working with flowers while in junior high!), Natalie owned and operated her own company–what she considers the best business school there is– for twelve years before deciding to join the HMR Designs team, allowing her to focus on design and creation. A firm believer that celebrations are the key to life, and no day should be without them, Natalie is thrilled to be able to be a part of them all year long.
- What attracts you to Chicago: This city is so filled with rich history, multi-cultural depth, and Midwestern, hard-working, big-hearted, food-loving, fun-seeking people. The more I know about Chicago, the more I find I have left to learn.
- Why do you enjoy what you do? I come from a big, outgoing, Irish family that loves people and beautiful things, and any excuse to have a party! It’s in my blood! I bring that passion to each meeting with new clients and feel like I get to be an integral part of their celebration…creating joy together!
- What do you like to do when you are not at work? I love music, nature, art, and great food! I love to explore Chicago with family and friends, but also love to have some chill time at home. However, the star of my world is my son. He’s without a doubt the most enlightening, inspiring, fun, wild, unpredictable, complicated, and creative project I’ve ever been a part of.
"Natalie, you and your team captured the beauty of that venue and made it sparkle and glow better than it probably ever has before that night... We (as well as our guests) are all still beaming and teary over that magical evening. I think we not only achieved our 'Bridgerton' wedding but one-upped them in the process.
Thank you all for a most magical of evenings."- Susie
