Mother’s Day at Saks Fifth Avenue
At HMR Designs florals have always played an integral role in the experiences we create for our beloved clientele. Be it a wedding, gala, or private dinner, it’s always the bright blooms in the room that tend to catch the eye and add those perfect finishing touches. It comes as no surprise, then, that a holiday such as Mother’s Day is extra special for our botanical loving team. With an entire department dedicated to Chicagoland daily floral orders, it’s particularly fun and heartwarming to create such personal pieces intended for some very lucky mothers. But this year we wanted to do something bigger. Enter: Saks Fifth Avenue.
We partnered with the iconic brand to gift sweet, speciality bouquets for participating customers during Mother’s Day weekend at their Michigan Avenue location. Over 150 arrangements were individually wrapped and carefully placed in dedicated bags bearing our namesake emblem. The department store was flush with fresh cut flowers, bouquets waiting for a home and, of course, a custom HMR Flower Cart blooming with buds. Set to invoke scenes from a European Summer Market, a melange of tulips, delphiniums, roses, boronia, and more welcomed guests into the now transformed garden utopia.
In the days leading up to the first floor activation, Saks granted us the opportunity to elevate their display window aesthetic in celebration of our maternal weekend takeover. We began the revamp with crisp boxwood backdrops and detailed herringbone cut-outs aligned to frame massive botanical pieces inspired by the Spring Season. Each piece was created on site with with brand new arrangements replacing the old after several days to maintain floral freshness.
